Earthquake: a massive number of houses cracked, suspected of over-exploitation of shale oil and gas

On September 16th, a magnitude 6 earthquake occurred in southern Sichuan Province in China. It was felt significantly throughout surrounding areas.

According to the China Earthquake Network, it occurred at 4:33 a.m. on the 16th, with a depth of about 10 kilometers.

It was not until 4:55 a.m. that another 2.8 magnitude aftershock was recorded at the same location at a depth of 15 kilometers. Many people were shaken awake in their sleep.

The official Chinese media reported three deaths and nearly 100 injuries in the earthquake, with 10,281 people being relocated.
