Community Safety Data Portal

York Regional Police is proud to launch the new Community Safety Data Portal, an innovative tool we believe will enhance engagement with our community and improve overall community safety.
The portal includes a new, intuitive crime map that can be found on our website at yrp.ca/CommunityPortal
Members of our community can access a wealth of crime information, including any potential safety concerns, with just a few clicks, broadening or narrowing their search with ease.
The portal features simple dashboards that indicate where and when crime has taken place in any area across York Region. Searches can be tailored to specific crimes in specific neighbourhoods.
Crime trends and related statistics, both by municipality and regionally, are easily accessed and the site provides users with the opportunity to download comprehensive data on a variety of crimes and crime trends.
The Community Safety Data Portal also features a dedicated Road Safety Map, which identifies roads and intersections with high-collision rates, as well as other important road safety issues.
Citizens will find links to crime prevention tips, media releases, the Security Camera Registry and options for members of the community to submit evidence, such as sending surveillance video directly to investigators.
The portal allows us to share crime information from across the region, including incidents and trends that don’t always warrant a media release or general community alert.
It means we can be more transparent with our residents than ever before and we are confident that if members of our community are better informed about police-related incidents happening in their neighbourhoods, they will be better able to help our officers solve and prevent crime.

This innovative, progressive tool will empower our citizens, helping us keep all our communities safe,” said Deputy Chief of Administration Paulo Da Silva. “And I’m proud to say this new technology was built in-house, by members of our talented Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Unit.”
