Top Down Approach to Technical Analysis | Importance of Price | Bond Market Analysis
Published at : November 09, 2021
On this auspicious Diwali weekend, we have brought you another insightful episode on Top Down Approach to Technical Analysis with JC Parets.
JC begins this conversation with explaining the importance of price. He highlights that price is the only thing which is going to pay everyone at the end of the day. And this can happen only when we sell things at higher price than their cost. Thus, every investor should focus only on price.
JC believes that price moves first and then stories are made to justify it’s movement. He also remembers 2008 crash which he enjoyed being bearish. But JC also mentions that even if you're right market can make you look like a fool. There's always a lesson in every single trade you do.
JC and Apurva then shifts their conversation to the bond market. Retail investors must also consider what's happening in the bond market. They can use the information from bond market to make a better trade decisions in the stock market.
JC believes that energy and financials are the sectors that can benefit the most from high interest rates. He shows this with CRB index and crude oil charts. He also shows Nifty Energy chart to explain what an uptrend in particular sector looks like.
JC then throws light on relative strength charts which he and Apurva believe are underrated. It is the most important indicator after price according to him. In relative strength, one asset is compared to the other. This comparison can be done between stocks, bonds or even commodities. When market goes through a bad phase you must use relative strength and look for stocks which are not falling.
JC finally mentions that you as a retail investor need not worry about beating the benchmarks. One should just focus on price movements to track stock market in a better way.
